This large 48 x 60 oil on canvas was the catalyst for the Good Friday Series. It is done in the style of Caravaggio's Entombment, which is located in the Pinacoteca in the Vatican Museum in Rome, Italy. The subject matter has changed, placing the scene at the foot of the cross and placing Mary ready to receive her child, Jesus Christ, into her hands once last time, which would momentarily form the Pieta, the pity of the blessed mother.
